Phi Beta Psi sorority is a national non-academic nonprofit sorority founded in 1904 in Ohio. Nu Chapter of Corydon, IN was founded on September 15th, 1928. On a local level, Nu Chapter offers support to Harrison County residents with cancer, awards scholarships, and supports the National Project. The chapter also supports other local charitable or civic causes.
A large portion of money raised by the chapter is provided to cancer patients with a monetary gift to help with medical bills, transportation expenses, etc. Christmas joy is brought to a family affected by cancer through purchasing gifts for the Christmas tree.
Nu Chapter awards a $500 scholarship, Cordelia Clunie Scholarship, to a Harrison County high school graduate who plans to pursue a career in the medical field. Our State Chapter also awards a state scholarship.
On a national level, we have The National Project, Cancer Research; supported by all chapters. The National Project allows us the ability to present 6 doctors, each in the field of cancer research, their own grant each fiscal year. Since 1973, over $10,000,000 has been given in grants to cancer research. Most of the money for these grants is earned through chapter projects, and some is donated as memorials.
